StatusQueen's Word Counter is a focused writing utility that counts words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and the time it takes to read or speak the text — all at the same moment. Two analysis tabs add depth: a goal tracker with built-in targets for popular platforms, and a keyword density readout that surfaces the top non-trivial words.
What every stat means
- Words — runs of non-whitespace characters separated by whitespace. Hyphenated terms (
well-being) count as one word. - Characters — total length including spaces and line breaks.
- Characters (no spaces) — only printable, non-whitespace characters.
- Sentences — runs of text terminated by
.!or?. Trailing text without a terminator counts as one too. - Paragraphs — text segments separated by one or more blank lines.
- Average word length — total non-whitespace characters ÷ word count.
- Reading time — words ÷ 250 wpm (the average adult silent-reading speed).
- Speaking time — words ÷ 130 wpm (the typical conversational and presentation pace).
Goal tracker
Pick a built-in target or set a custom one. The progress bar fills as you write — green when you hit the target, red if you go over. Built-in presets:
- Tweet — 280 characters (Twitter/X standard post)
- Meta description — 160 characters (SEO snippet limit)
- Instagram caption — 2200 characters
- LinkedIn post — 3000 characters
- Essay — 500 words (typical short-form assignment)
- Blog post — 1500 words (mid-length blog target)
Custom targets accept any positive integer in either words or characters.
Keyword density
Switches the panel to show the top 10 most-used words in your text, with a count and a percentage of all "meaningful" words (stopwords excluded). Common stopwords like the, a, an, and, or, of, to, in, is, it, this, that are filtered out so you see the actual content words.
SEO writers usually aim for 1–3% density on a target keyword. Anything much higher reads as keyword stuffing to both readers and search engines.
Privacy
